Crashes at about 622 for me.

This is the car that used to get 1082.6 for me...but no longer. If the simulation uses a random seed, the dev needs to get rid of it. This isn't fun, it's just frustrating.

Sorry samadam, I get the better results.

I wonder if it has to do with the speed with which your computer can render the simulation. The stop condition may be time based, not simulation steps based. Do you get the same results if you minimize the window?
This is not the signature you're looking for...

Sorry, samadam I'm with ne0x on this one: I actually get the better scores for both repasting mine and the 1082.6 score for your car. Speaking of which, would you mind if I put the car into my population...? I've really hit a wall (a LONG time without any additional improvements) and I'm looking for anything to get it better: I really want to win, ha.

I really don't think this is the case. The stop condition is simulation step based. I can unplug my laptop and it gets exactly the same score. Try to keep pasting the same car under different loads. If you ever get a different time send me the example.

Well, it is something of a competition, so if you really want to beat me fair and square I suggest not using mine, but I certainly can't stop you, and it's not a problem if you do. The current car is the product of several thousand generations of evolution, so it's certainly not found without effort (okay, my research computer left on all week).

I wish there were a way to validate results without releasing car source, but whatever. I'll wait for the automatic scoreboard.

I have now reached 1123.9.

No, that's totally fair: there's a reason I asked permission and I will definitely respect your wishes. :)

That said, unfortunately I think I may have to do something to inject some new variation into my population... many (many) generations without an improvement above 1118.4. I don't know why I became obsessed with this track in particular but dammit, I want to see it beaten.

This track is the one that really requires a versatile car, not just something pathologically evolved to match the track. That's why I like it.

Sadly, my experiments into alternate designs yielded very little in the way of progress. Back to PSO on the previous car... still stuck in the 1120s (1123.8).
