let me welcome myself, too :-) 251.3, 100% GA, 0% ID, few hundred generations

I only get 248.3 on Win7/IE. I also thought I'd cracked it a few times only to find that evolution had fixated on a car that fell through the track...

I came home tonight and was amazed to see my run had generated a 251.3. However, when I copied it into the designer, I discovered that it's just another through-the-floor glitcher. For whatever it's worth...

I'm up to 248.3 after 668 Generations. I plan to let this run for a week or so. Two copies, one with genetic and one with particle swarm.

I think I might eventually be onto a winner. This is the end results of less than 20 generations of evolution, starting with the glitchy unicycle Serendipitus developed for Hang Ten. Both the original and my evolved version never decelerate or lose their balance, and both of them cut out abruptly after a certain distance (246.1 for Serendipitus, 249.4 for my more evolved version) for no apparent reason. Hopefully I'll be able to evolve one that can reach the end of the track without triggering the cutoff. I'll be leaving it to run overnight to see what it can do.

now it goes to 251

I first noticed this on the Hills, certain cars that break without losing torque (whether a glitch or just fortunate placement), and so they develop a higher strength/mass ratio. If we can find out a way to exploit this with higher initial torque... This kind of car will win sisyphus.

251.36nn (end), in 18.63 seconds.

Chromosomal hacking, car is oversized, but this is a proof of concept. It exploits the apparent bug where the torque loss is not proportional to the mass loss; at about 40 points in it loses a quarter of its mass but the torque only drops from 722 to 721. This picture is the furthest up that I could get; it still had considerable momentum.

Note: the code falls victim to the non-deterministic output. If it is inputted to the peak, then sisyphus, its run on sisyphus will be successful.
