this thing came from a mutation... and with a score over 400, i'm completely amazed it got that far, from the way it looks at the beginning.

This car moves exactly nowhere along x, and the time is listed as 0:00 (even though it seems to hang around for about the normal timeout period). It tends to spawn other cars with the same properties. Maybe this means that the timer only initiates when the car starts to register a score or displaces?

For me, the timer runs normally, and can be explained easily:
It does not fall sideways because the mass is not positive (negative mass bug)
It does not move forwards because the chassis is too small (zero mass=zero torque)
The scoreboard shows zero time because it registers when the score was reached, not when the car dies.
I still like the car for showing the negative-zero mass behavior.

Ah! I forgot about that, makes a lot of sense now.

Interesting invention

This one car (and some others of the same breed) has developed an interesting strategy: It picks one of the hangten's balls, forces it between its rear wheel and the chassis, and uses that as a speed-brake to prevent a few free-falls.

Code: Select all

on a slightly related note:
what is that blue box at the bottom of this? half of a wheel?

Either a zero-sized wheel or a glitching wheel. My editor shows two full-sized wheels and it looks related to the negative zero mass car, but the top wheel is not shown in the sim at all and the bottom one only shows the axle.

but it doesn't show the second part of the axle... or is that part of the wheel itself and is therefore not visible?
also, when put into the sim, similar cars appear, with one axle at the bottom that has no wheel attached.
I know it most likely has to do with the negative mass... but has this been seen before?

Edit: when put into the designer and I mess around with the wheel radii, it still is invisible in the sim.
